When kids germinate rainforest plants and participate in hands-on activities about consumption and rainforest loss, they gain a new appreciation for fragile environments. Our kit includes curriculum for grades 3-6 that provides activities to teach students about the connections between products they consume and rainforest loss, and offers simple actions they can take to help save the rainforest.
Rainforest Habitat Package includes:
GrowLab Compact Light Garden (includes an adjustable 2' light fixture with 2 20-watt Gro-Lux™ wide-spectrum tubes [fixture adjusts to 22" high], 12"x23" plastic tray, and 24-hour timer)
5 packets of seeds for plants native to the rainforest (see inset photo): sweet wild banana (an ancestor of the current banana), tree tomato, calico vine, Cuban royal palm, Brazilian monkey pod tree, plus germination instructions (some varieties require long germination times — a great opportunity for germination experiments!)
Rainforests Forever curriculum and Rainforest Resources guide are packed with activities that teach students about the connections between products they consume and rainforest loss, and offers simple actions they can take to save the rainforest. Published by the Rainforest Action Network, our resource guide includes websites and online curricular activities, plant and seed sources, plant growing tips, and a bibliography.
