Designing and building a self-contained classroom ecosystem has never been easier! The Aquatic Ecosystem is a self-contained growing system that enables students to design and create a dynamic, biologically active ecosystem geared for hands-on learning.

Within the unit, four distinct habitats (see inset) form a self-supporting, leak-proof wetland ecosystem that you and your students create. As the habitat grows, observe the dynamics of natural systems, study plant and animal relationships, and even add a small amount of waste to the system to see how pollution affects nature!

Start the Aquatic Ecosystem with plants, animals, and gravel from local environments. We also offer a redeemable coupon for a Starter Kit (pondwater, mud, and aquatic plants). Made of durable 1/4" acrylic, the 24"x24"x12" high tank is easy to set up and fits on a sturdy tabletop. Includes a UL-listed air pump, tubing, fittings, instruction manual, and sample lesson plans.

In the inset illustration above, the waste from one cell feeds the next. 3/8" gravel (obtain locally) is integral to the functioning of the system (2/3 cu ft needed).
